I first met Les Campbell when I joined the PVPA in 2001 as a budding amateur photographer. He immediately offered to mentor me and support my efforts in so many generous ways. I gratefully took advantage of his expertise and keen aesthetics especially with respect to the natural world. He opened up the resources of his studio to me and that is where I spent endless hours learning to cut mats and mount my photos.
His encouragement, feedback, and networking connections were key to all my early successes in my newfound avocation. I also credit him for introducing me to the joys of his Quabbin.
We also became friends as he welcomed me into his home where I had the privilege of meeting his beloved wife Terri before her descent into a protracted terminal illness. His loving care for her during those long challenging years was truly exceptional and inspirational.
Without reservation I can say that I have never met anyone who better exemplifies my idea of a true gentleman - kind, generous, humble, and wise in so many important ways which form the essence of a well- lived life. I am honored to join with many others in celebrating his life and his legacy.
