My father was active with both the Quabbin Photo Group and the Pioneer Valley Photographic Artists up until the last year of his life. He co-founded both groups and the members were very special to him. Many times when I would walk into his home and he would be on the phone. I would ask him who it was. Very often it was a member of one of these two groups. He would go on to tell me who it was, and what a wonderful photographer they were, and what type of photography they enjoyed doing. He loved to go to the meetings to see the new photographs they had done. The three walls surrounding his large framing room were covered with their photographs, along with a few of his. Friends visiting him would always comment on those photographs thinking they were his. He would say “No, they were done by my friends”. Then he would tell them about each photograph and the person that took it. I thought it would be fitting that their photographs be with his now for everyone to see. He believed photographs needed to be seen, and he helped his friends to have their photographs seen. He would be happy knowing many more people will be able to see his friends' photographs.
