Walter Coombs

Les always encouraged me and offered constructive observations on my images when I was still learning how to get the pictures I wanted. He gave advice on things I'd never thought about, such as: when photographing insects inside in studio setting, anchor the camera and move the container or leaf or twig with the insect to achieve focus. He was also generous. He gave me an Zeiss Luminar lens designed for deep macro images. I used it for several years before getting a more modern ultra-macro lens. I eventually gave the lens to another photographer who otherwise could not have afforded it.
